It is the mission of the Detroit Entrepreneurship Institute, Inc. to provide entrepreneurship and economic literacy training and technical assistance to individuals in Southeast Michigan with barriers to accessing resources in order to enhance their economic condition and that of their community

 

Individual Development Account (IDA)

Senior Director:  Venus Brown

The IDA program prepares participants to become more financially independent. Participants in the IDA program are eligible to save for purchasing a first time home, business assets or secondary education.  Savings are matched depending on the asset to be purchased.

Clients that participate in the IDA program will:

  • learn to build and maintain financial assets
  • acquire knowledge to purchase a first time home, get an education or start/expand a small business
  • learn how to navigate through the credit repair process

In order to apply for the IDA program you must:

  • Complete one of DEI's 11-week core training programs
  • Have your name added to the participant's eligibility list
  • Be willing to commit to saving on a regular basis
  • Be ready to obtain your asset within one year

There is no cost for the IDA program. 

However, there are income eligibility guidelines.
